Mr. "Ranger"-Thank you for the Music
A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of going to a "good-bye" celebration for one of my high school band teachers. Music just has a way of touching your life in every possible way. When WGSS opened, it was quite the oxymoron because we had band in the library because it was the biggest room available to house all the students it needed to. I played flute and of course sat in the front row, so I got my share of flying batons and spray when the conductors talked. Mr. Angell gave me the opportunity to brave many things such as concert choir, jazz choir and jazz band ---even with a solo on the flute. Thanks! I also spent a lot of time in the band room in my grade 12 year....being the "teacher's assistant" (or should I say organizer!:). I filed music, sorted music, labeled tapes and cleaned off what they called their desk. Mr. Angell, thanks for pushing me to do my best, for having a listening ear, for providing a place where all of us felt comfortable and for showing me what it means to be a good teacher, now, many years later. Hope you have many fun filled years with your children and grandchildren. You will be missed at WGSS.
