I am sorry to say that I have neglected this blog lately, which saddens my heart because I have SO many cool shoots to share with you! (I have been so busy updating my school blog everyday and our church blog once a week, that this went on the back burner).

So, as part of my new year, I am aiming to blog once a week at least! I am also taking a photo a day of my family, so stay tuned for some photos on our family blog. Onto the new year...

Our client at Ladybug Boutique wanted us to take some photos for her new website. Until this site is launched, you can find some info on her facebook page here. I loved doing this shoot because my house is filled with nerf guns, hot wheels, lego, hockey bags...and it was just nice to get connected with the girly side of me. Thank you A and E for being amazing models. Thank you Christy for all the amazing props to add to my repertoire!

A few years ago, we met this family when little Miss S was only a baby and now she has a little brother! We were a little skeptical about how he would be as he was one month old at the shoot, but he was great--some sleepy time and some awake time to cuddle with each family member. Congratulations. We shot this lovely couple's wedding a year ago May and we were honoured to take the one year pictures for their new addition to their family! Here are some pregnancy photos we did around their house along the Fraser River and then their new addition just a few days ago in our studio! Congratulations! I met up with these two boys on one of the sunny days in May! I have been photographing them since they were in their mommy's tummy--it's so good to see them every year and how much they have grown. We explored their secret garden, running up and down the pathways, across the bridges and throwing rocks into the pond. So much fun for any boy!

Little Tough Guy at 6 Months

I am so happy to see newborns and how much they have changed at their 6 month shoot. Why do I love to photograph 6 month babies? Well, they are so smiley, they love to laugh, they sit up and don't crawl yet, they love to lie on their back and tickle their toes, they can look serious and still be super cute, they can also lie on their tummy and lift their head up. They are so adorable!

This little man was no exception. He brought his mom and dad and quite a few cute outfits. I supplemented his style with hats from Little Chick Knits.

Beautiful Mama Model

This lovely little family came to the studio a few weeks ago. I am so excited because they purchased the one year shoot so I get to see them every six months. YAY! I love how Mom brought fun, chunky jewelry and multiple changes of clothes so we could style the shoot together! They also brought Dad's guitar which fit so nicely in the photos. Enjoy! 6 Little Princesses

Whew! It's been awhile since I have been here in blogland! I have just finished my graduate studies program Learning and Teaching with Technology last month and slowing getting back into the swing of things!

One of my former colleagues came over from Ellie Bean Baby Boutique with all of her homemade hair clips, hats and headbands for a photo shoot at the end of March. I had 6 beautiful girls in our house...can you see the dresses, shoes and flowers scattered about? I don't think my house has ever been that girly before. It was great! Alma Mater Fundraising Event

A good friend of mine asked us to photograph TWU Alumni Volleyball fundraising event. Since we both graduated from there, we thought, why not? The theme was vintage sports and so many players, coaches and alumni attended all dressed up in their year's garb! It was a great evening of live music, yummy food, good fellowship, silent auction and trivia! Good times held by all!

A friend of ours loves to refer clients to us (she is a great sales person and we adore that!) and the people she sends our way are always such fun--thanks Brooke! This wedding and these people were no exception. It is always a joy to be creative with light and shoot such down to earth, really happy people. Being on New Year's Eve, we were crossing our fingers for great weather, and we got it. Sunny and as warm as it could be in December-- the bride was such a trooper! I love it when they are just new! This beautiful girl was born on Thursday and I had the pleasure of going to visit her, her mom and dad in the hospital after school. (Birth photo shoots are now a part of the new one year package!) She has such cute chubby cheeks and wrinkly feet. (Mom and Dad can't be pictured because of their profession, so this is all about her!) Congratulations B and L and high five to big brother E!

I also got to see her first bath and she screamed until she got into the water. So cute!

A Smidgen More than 12 Hours Old

We have been super busy with the Christmas season, but I couldn't resist sharing this handsome boy with you (This post is well deserved after my blogging hiatus)! I was so excited to get the text that my friend, and teaching partner was going to the hospital late last night. A little less than three hours later, in the wee hours of the morning, they welcomed Colby Daniel into the world. Congratulations Nicole, Keith and Morgan on this precious addition to your family. (I can't wait to see him soon in the studio). I will miss you, but enjoy your year off as you raise your wonderful boy.

This family won the silent auction certificate that we donated to Great West Fitness for Run For the Cure. It turns out that these cute children came to our studio and neighbourhood on the right day for the beautiful fall light. It was fun going on an adventure walk and finding the tunnels with you P!

A year ago already, friends of our family had two baby twin girls. It is a miracle story and we are so proud and grateful that we were able to share their first birthday with them. I've never had the privilege of teaching this young man, but I did teach his little sister who is graduating next year! He was a natural! We wanted to find a few urban spots and some areas that we could shoot with his car. Downtown was the place. It just so happens that his dad's Volkswagen auto body shop was near, so we got some cool shots in the land of cars in need of repairs. Thanks K for helping your big bro style his shoot. I am so glad I bumped into this family in Walmart McDonald's a few months ago to book this young man's 9 month shoot. He came at the beginning of the year for some newborn shots (see the blog post here) ... look how much he has grown. This time we were able to play at our park--which is always a treat. "The Contest"

to see who could have the best birthday party--is on! (Just kidding) Actually it's a pretty cool idea that I suggested to my secretary about 6 months ago when her eldest daughter turned 16. Since it was the only day that week that it torrentially down poured, we headed to the mall parkade! We loved the circles, the staircases and the cement. Then we decided to go into the mall. I'm not sure if it is kosher or not, but we asked a few and took a few shots in front of and in some of the store fronts. SO FUN! A couple customers asked what we were doing and if it was a "contest" to which I replied, "No, it's a birthday!"

how honoured I feel! We have been friends with this dad before he was even married and before he had these beautiful girls, so I felt honoured because I was able to capture this moment for them. A year ago last August, their second daughter was born in Florida--this year her birth mom came for a visit. I got back from Shuswap just in time to capture a few shots, before she left the next day. What a wonderful time, what wonderful people...and what wonderful light. (I just couldn't choose, so be prepared!)

Dad put in a new swing that she had fallen off of already, and she was a little skeptical at first!

This cutie just turned two! She is just learning how to talk: anytime she sees you (even walking room to room) she will say, "Hi!" and she says, "Cheese!" when she sees a camera. She also gives the best 'huggies'. She is the daughter of great friends of ours. (Don't you love it when a husband and wife have so much in common? These friends are one of those couples. Every six months or so, Miss C and I go out for a photo shoot. She is taking the Fashion Design program at UFV and she makes and designs her own clothes. We decided to shoot in Matsqui Village as I wanted to scope out the location...thanks to Brian for the use of your house and vintage chair as well as the DuFrene's for being able to lean up against your car. A special thanks to Miss C for her willingness to try anything and knowing how to pose! Amazing!

We LOVE to see our client's families grow. This lovely couple was a wedding client 5 years ago, and now three beautiful children are additions to their family. They just had a baby boy a few months ago and God has shown how miracles do happen--God does work for the good! He was born with a heart problems and has already had one surgery--two more to go. Newborn "Hat Model"-Out with the Old and In with the New

There wasn't a whole lot of newborn boys being born in the past few months. (The ratio of boys to girls has been 1 to 5 in our studio). This handsome newborn is from our church. I asked his mom if he could "model" some hats for me before I had to send them back to my cousin of Little Chick Knits. She happily obliged and I couldn't be more pleased with the result! This week old little girl came to visit us. She was the perfect age for the shoot-- still cuddly, still scrunchy and still adorable when sleeping. Congratulations G and P! She is a precious angel!

We are so excited when clients come to us to document their child's first year. We saw this beautiful little girl grow from a bump in Mom's belly, to one year. She is precious and we can't wait to capture more of her milestones!

I love this weather --when it is warm enough to shoot outside!

Beautiful Mama Update

We were finally able to catch up with this beautiful Mama's hubby (now daddy to a handsome boy! Congrats!). I love the looks they still give each other!

This beautiful mama was once a bride not all that long ago when we shot her wedding. I get so excited to continue the relationship with clients and see their families grow. Congratulations and can't wait to add your hubby to these shots...hope he is feeling better!

You know those places that you drive by every day and wonder what it would look like in a shoot? Well, I do. I look at the world through a lens and this location wasn't what I expected (small knee height flowers), but I loved it just the same!

(same with this little perfect place...ahhhh)

Yet again, we end up taking so many pics of this dear boy when we see him! Since this shoot, he has learned to walk! Crazy at 10 1/2 months, but he loved chasing my boys around. (Knitted Hat by Little Chick Knits and tie by the belle and the beau).

I was one of the first people to see this little guy in the hospital only a few hours after he was born! It is so fun to see them when they are so new!
